Why You Should House Sit

There are a number of reasons why you should consider house sitting! Here are some of my favorites:

  1. Free accommodation - where you sleep at night is one of the most expensive parts of any trip (unless you're using hostels or a camper van, which can have their own issues and expense). House sitting can save you hundreds or even thousands every week!
  2. Live like a local - not only can you save money on accommodation, there are other ways to save as well! While you'll definitely want to sample the local cuisine, you can save a lot by buying groceries and cooking at your house sit for most meals. And there is often a washing machine at the house, so you can pack less and don't need to waste time (and change) at a laundromat. Plus, your hosts will usually share tips on how to get around, local places to eat and shop, as well as some must-see places and hidden gems for sightseeing!
  3. Spend time with pets - if you're a fan of animals, you'll definitely enjoy house sitting! While some sits don't have pets (there is often some gardening needed instead), the majority do. But you don't have to like every type of animal or even spend much time with them. I'm a cat fan, but I'm not really into dogs, so I avoid the sits with dogs. One sit only required tossing some fish food into a pond once a day - my easiest sit so far!
  4. A quiet place to work - this is for the entrepreneurs, digital nomads, and remote workers out there! Having a desk or table to work at with a steady wifi connection is a must for most online work. Most house sits have decent or amazing wifi (check in advance), and if you're used to working alone or prefer it, this can save you from having to buy a pass to a coworking space or find a spot in an overcrowded coffee shop.

And you can get all of this just for a little work - usually less than an hour, or sometimes only 5-10 minutes a day! Take this course to find out how!
